4 Best Watches In Cinema

Product placements are a part of movies. One of the most recognized forms of them is the appearance of watches. Despite quick appearances, watches obtain the most acknowledgment due to the presence of watch enthusiasts who watch. Some appearances have been quick. Meanwhile, some have been lengthy.

How many models have you spotted on the big screen? Let’s find out in this article some of the most memorable and loved watches in cinema!

Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 In James Bond (Sean Connery)

First, is it a list of cinematic watch appearances without mentioning James Bond? Sean Connery’s appearance as James Bond cemented one of the most iconic movies and product pairings in human history: James Bond and Rolex. The Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 had begun James Bond’s love affair with notable timepieces, and from Dr. No (1962) to Thunderball (1964), the Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 and Agent 007 are inseparable. The 6538 is a mark of the quintessential first James Bond but was instrumental in helping the British icon check the time.

Future Bond movies have also featured different Rolex models, like the Submariner Ref. 5513 used by Roger Moore during his Bond tenure. Roger Moore famously used a Seiko in A View To A Kill (1985). If you’re more interested in Seiko, maybe you can check out GS Philippines. In License To Kill (1989), Rolex had stopped being 007’s trademark timekeeper. Sean Connery had made an indelible mark during his tenure as 007. Many 007s have since come and gone, but it’s hard to compare them to the essence of Connery and his performance as the prominent and dominant Bond and his Ref. 6538.

For that reason, his death brought the world much grief. Although Bond actors have changed, there is a special place in every Bond fan’s heart for Sir Sean Connery.

Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph in Top Gun (1986)

When Top Gun landed in theaters in 1986, it featured the Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph. The watch model emerged in 1972 as the first PVD watch on the market. The timepiece appeared prominent in the film with its stealthy look and pilot-favored chronograph.

The Valjoux 7750-powered piece in the movie was present in several close-up shots. The watch is coated in PVD, giving it an inconspicuous look. Its durability and reliability were also another reason why it was favored during the time. The watch made another appearance in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.

Rolex Day Date in Uncut Gems (2020)

The real star of Uncut Gems is Adam Sandler, who portrays a gambling addict unhingedly. However, we can always remember his Rolex Day Date with a matching blood-red dial! The Day-Date model used in the movie was sourced from an actual jewelry store in New York’s murky Diamond District. Talk about authenticity!

Omega Speedmaster Professional in The Adam Project (2022)

The Adam Project may not be as well-cooked, but it’s still a blockbuster! In The Adam Project, a pair of swish Speedmasters, worn by Ryan Reynolds and a child version of Ryan Reynolds, played masterfully by Walker Scobell. The film features an endearing love story and the element of time travel. If you want to establish this is a time travel flick you’re seeing, then the Omega flagship Chrono is a Choice!
