Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 In James Bond (Sean Connery)

Sean Connery’s appearance as James Bond cemented one of the most iconic movies and product pairings in human history: James Bond and Rolex. The Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 had begun James Bond’s love affair with notable timepieces, and from Dr. No (1962) to Thunderball (1964), the Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 and Agent 007 are inseparable. The 6538 is a mark of the quintessential first James Bond but was instrumental in helping the British icon check the time.
Future Bond movies have also featured different Rolex models, like the Submariner Ref. 5513 used by Roger Moore during his Bond tenure. Roger Moore famously used a Seiko in A View To A Kill (1985). The Valjoux 7750-powered piece in the movie was present in several close-up shots. The watch is coated in PVD, giving it an inconspicuous look. Its durability and reliability were also another reason why it was favored during the time. The watch made another appearance in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.
Rolex Day Date in Uncut Gems (2020)
