Want To Have an Outdoor Wedding? 5 Things You Need To Look Into

Are you planning an outdoor wedding this coming year? Of course, you will want to make sure you plan it for a warmer time of year (or have a plan b location in the back pocket should it rain), but what else do you need to look into to ensure that your outdoor wedding goes off without a hitch? Here are some ideas to help you!

1. Glamping!

Do you want to have an outdoor wedding that is different? Then why not invest in glamping?

There has been a rise in recent times in this wedding option, and, while it may seem more expensive, holding a glamping wedding is more affordable and fun than you may think. This will allow you and your guests to have a luxurious evening following the wedding, all with lights and beds built into the tents. Great!

2. Lighting

Outdoor lighting is a must-have for outdoor weddings, as when the sun goes down, you will want to make sure you can still see your guests!

Luckily, you don’t need to worry about electricity boxes or connecting to a nearby electricity supply. There are so many options for lighting your outdoor wedding that it may be cheaper to choose LED lights that are battery-operated, or even invest in solar-powered lights. The best part is that with outdoor spaces, you may want to extend the lights past a set point, and as you will likely know, one of the most popular types of external lighting is string lights. So, you can add fairy or string lights to your evening/nighttime post-wedding party to keep everything lit and the space feeling magical.

3. Flowers. Lots of Flowers!

Now that lights have been discussed, as it is an outdoor wedding and reception, it is wise to consider looking into flowers. Of course, this is not to say that they have to be cut flowers.

Many outdoor weddings are based around natural spaces which are oozing with stunning views, and, in the coming year, more people are opting to get married near meadows or floral fields. This will help create amazing photos and means you won’t have to spend a fortune making sure the space has lots of cut flowers.

If you choose to get married next to a wildflower meadow or a flower farm, check if any of your guests have allergies beforehand!

4. Portable Bathrooms

Something that needs to be spoken about more with being in the great outdoors is toilet needs.

Yes, there will be a designated toilet in a reception hall or a church, meaning that couples planning an indoor wedding don’t even have to consider it. Of course, if you are opting for an outdoor wedding, you will need somewhere for you and your guests to answer calls of nature.

Luckily, there is a market for renting toilets for weddings, so your outdoor toilet won’t look like the ones you may see at outdoor music festivals (or smell like them!). You can easily rent luxury, portable toilets, which can be set up and broken down by a trained installation team before and after all your guests have gone home, or to their rooms. You can even place air fresheners in these if you wish, which will class up an already snazzy set of toilets, and keep everything smelling great!

5. Heat Lamps

Yes, you may be planning to have your outdoor wedding at the peak of summer between July and August, so the sun will be high in the sky, and everyone may come wearing lightweight clothes. However, as the outdoor wedding turns into an outdoor reception, and day turns to night, it’s highly likely that you and your guests may get a bit cold.

So, it is worth looking into easy-to-use heat lamps or even controlled fire pits to help keep everybody warm. These are ideal if you have an outdoor space with an area of concrete, as this is easier to heat and will maintain the heat, meaning you can have it on at a lower setting. It may seem expensive, but heat lamps for rental, for outdoor spaces are surprisingly cheap, as are fire pits to rent. Of course, if you choose to have a set of fire pits for your evening wedding reception, you will need to also have some fire extinguishers on standby, just in case!

Having outdoor heaters will certainly make for some great photos, especially if you opt for the fire pits!
